Emerging Translations

Gorse Mill Gallery - 31 Thorpe Road, Needham, MA November 2nd thru December 1st

Emerging Translations is a two-person show with my wife, and fellow artist, Caroline Rufo. The title and theme of this show is drawn from threads in both of our current bodies of work exploring a visual approach to the work before the use of language. The notion of an emergent pre-verbal language is important to both of us as we excavate, layer and give form to the ideas.

Mine and Caroline’s work often weave and intersect in their ideas and conceptual underpinning. It’s less common for the work to be visually related. When the opportunity presented itself to show at Gorse Mill Gallery (Thank you, Tova Speter!) we realized we were both actively analyzing the process of abstraction through our current individual bodies of work. The opportunity for an “on the wall” conversation between the pieces is timely and exciting for the ongoing dialogue in our art practices.
